"Hunger Blockade" Film, 1948
Context: At the end of World War II, Germany was split into four occupied zones. As tension grew between the occupying powers, the Soviet Union blockaded Berlin, cutting off roads, railways, and canals. The United States put its containment policy into action, resisting Soviet pressure by flying supplies directly into West Berlin. A U.S.-produced short film captures the “Berlin Airlift” from the German perspective.
