In this course, we will explore the relations between the United States and the world.  You will learn the theoretical, conceptual, and critical tools to understand and analyze U.S. foreign policy outcomes.  You will examine the American  foreign policy-making process.  This course is divided into four main topics. First, we will discuss the international relations theories that grounds U.S. foreign policy.  The second part of the class will examine the institutions and processes that guide foreign policy formation and implementation.  For example, who are the important people setting the foreign policy agenda? The third part of the course  will review the tools of foreign policy used by policymakers.  Finally, the last fourth of the course will consider the future and implications of U.S. foreign policy.
