CFR Education Presents Embedding Global Civics in the Social Studies Classroom for Kansas Educators
This free, in-person, two-day professional development workshop is hosted in partnership with the Kansas State Department of Education and CFR Education from the Council on Foreign Relations.
About
CFR Education from the Council on Foreign Relations strongly believes that all students should be provided with an education in global civics. Students today live in a world more connected than at any point in history, where global issues transcend borders. To successfully navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead requires global literacy—the essential knowledge, skills, and perspective needed to understand how our complicated and fascinating world works.
CFR Education aims to close the global literacy gap in our country by providing accessible, accurate, and authoritative resources that build the knowledge, skills, and perspective students need to understand and engage with today’s most pressing global issues. CFR Education resources are free, concise, engaging, relevant, and up-to-date.
This workshop will align with the Kansas State Department of Education's four fundamentals of structured literacy, standards alignment, balanced assessment, and high quality instruction, and will include discussion of materials that could be used for the history, government, and social studies classroom-based assessment.
